FAQ

What do I have to do to get a library card?

Adults only need a valid photo ID with proof of address. If your ID does not include your current address, you will need to bring a piece of mail or something else with your current address on it. The application process is quick and painless, and you’ll leave the library with your card the same day! Library cards are good for 5 years.

For those under 17, an adult who will be responsible for them needs to fill out an application.

Do I have to live in Diboll to use your library?

No! We have patrons from across the state, and even a few from other states who use the library on their visits to The Pineywoods.

How much does a library card cost?

Library cards are FREE! There is no cost to use our services!! There is a $1.00 charge to replace lost or stolen cards. Cards that have expired will be replaced at no charge if needed.

Do I have to have a library card to use your computers?

Yes. If you come to the library and realize that you have forgotten your card, please visit the circulation desk where our staff will happily look your number up for you.

I have a library card from another library… will it work at your library too?

No. You will have to apply for a T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library card to use our materials.

How long can I keep materials?

Books are checked out for 3 weeks, DVDs are out for 1 week, and magazines can be checked out for 1 week. If you need materials longer, come by or call the library to renew them. If there is no hold on the materials, staff will happily extend your time.

Can I give staff book suggestions or requests?

Of course! We love hearing what our patrons would like for us to have on the shelves! If the book is older and/or is not something we would be able to add to our collection, we will happily check the Texas Interlibrary Loan system for you and borrow the book from another library if possible (this service does include a small charge to cover the shipping of the materials). Call us, stop by the front desk, or email any of the staff with your book suggestions!

Do you have a fax machine?

We do have a fax machine, and will happily receive or send faxes for you at a charge of $1.00 for the first page and 50 cents for each additional page. Our public fax number is 936-829-5963.

How much does it cost to make copies or print from computers?

It is 20 cents per page for computer printouts, and 15 cents per page for copies made on our copy machine. We do not have public access color printers at this time.

Do you take credit or debit payments?

Yes! In addition to cash or check, we are happy to accept payment for services using credit or debit card!

Will you type a paper for me, help me fill out an application online, setup my new email, etc.?

No. Library staff is happy to assist you with basic computer functions, but cannot do computer work for you.

Do you have a room available for rent?

The Buddy and Ellen Temple Community Room can be reserved for private events based on availability. This room is not a true rental facility, but rather a service that we are happy to offer to our community. Library events take precedence over private rentals, and we are unable to accommodate all rental requests. Contact library staff to inquire about room availability and usage fees.

Can my child come to the library while I run errands or while I’m at work?

Library policy is that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult or older teenager at all times. While we love to see your children in the library, library staff cannot be held responsible for your child’s safety.

Can my wife/husband/brother/sister/child/anyone else use my library card?

No. You must have your own library card to use our services. This protects against the unauthorized use of materials that could lead to charges on your account for overdue, damaged, or lost materials. Our computer system will also only allow one user to login with a card at a time. Remember, cards are FREE, so why not have one for the whole family?

Do you have programs for kids?

Yes! Make sure to keep an eye on our event calendar and our Facebook page for information about our events for all ages!
